The scenes we light look like a motion picture set.

While most photographers use strobe, we use hard light, the kind you see on a motion picture set.

Alone or in combination with natural light, hard light is always on, so everyone sees exactly what the final result will be, with total control. The photographer and client can see and adjust every 'set' to perfection (unlike flash or strobe where the outcome is not clear until you see the film).

Lone Pine Pictures spends hours lighting every element of a scene indoors or out using motion picture lights like those shown above in addition to a variety of diffusers and other lighting tools that allow us to paint with light.

With motion-picture style lighting, we can completely control the outcome. Hard light is especially good for architectural interior and exterior photography.

Combined with large format film photography, the difference hard light makes is remarkable.

Hard light can create an 'event atmosphere' along with great photos.

Since the set up with hard light looks like a motion picture set, and makes the subject matter look 'better than real', taking pictures with hard lighting can also be an attraction at events like the grand openings or ribbon cuttings of buildings, or restaurants, or other facilities.

The process of shooting large format film is fascinating in itself - with 4x5 Polaroids taken before film is loaded, film backs, the guy with the cape over his head, the 4x5 camera, and more. It's a craft that few have experienced first hand, and a technique that produces wonderful images.

Lone Pine can give your event that motion picture set look, while providing incredibly sharp 4x5 photos of your location as well as your guests, and documenting the event in grand style.
